What’s the difference between a CPA and an accountant?
All CPAs are accountants, but a CPA has passed the Uniform CPA Exam, met education and experience requirements, and holds a state license. CPAs can perform audits and represent you before the IRS; a general accountant cannot. For tax strategy and audit support, a CPA (or an IRS-licensed Enrolled Agent) is the safer choice.
